In slide 14 of the lecture on chapter 19 of our textbook, I compared the GDPs of United States and Brazil from 2005 to 2010. Now it is your turn! The excel file below contains data on GDP, GDP deflator and PPP exchange rate for several countries. Data are from the World Bank. Choose two countries and six consecutive years. Then compare the GDP of these two countries in dollars at constant 2017 prices. Set up a table like I did on slide 14 and post the results. The excel file contains four sheets: the first is GDP at local currency unit (LCU), the second is GDP deflator (base year varies by country), the third is PPP exchange rate (LCU/dollar), and the fourth is GDP in PPP dollars at 2017 prices (so you can use the fourth sheet to check your results and see if you are doing it right). You may need to "enable editing" once you open the excel file in order to use it.
