In taking the leadership self-assessment on team player attitudes, my result was a score of 47, indicating that I have a strong positive attitude toward being a team member and working cooperatively with others. Reflecting on this, I can see how this aligns with my current role, where I've been hired to turn around a durable medical equipment company. To achieve this efficiently and effectively, I have utilized intergroup leadership skills. One of the key initiatives I've implemented is creating a daily huddle team that discusses the day's work and focuses on removing Muda (waste). We also engage in team-building exercises to foster trust among team members. A month ago, we had a session to clearly define and commit to our mission. We set group goals and subgroup goals, establishing a culture of cooperation and collaboration as an expectation. Our recruitment tools have been revised to include behavioral questions that ensure we hire individuals who align with the culture we are building. This process has been incredibly rewarding. I've observed significant growth in some leaders, while others have chosen to leave, but overall, the experience has been positive, and our business is beginning to grow. It has taken me many years to learn how to delegate effectively, appreciate the value of others coming up with solutions, and embrace vulnerability.
