In The Alchemist, after Santiago has all his money stolen, he makes a conscious choice to not be a victim and instead to think of his situation as an adventure by following the omens. This leads him to a lucrative job at a Crystal Shop on top of a hill, where within a year he has enough money to return home and buy double the flock of sheep.

But instead of returning home to what he knows and where he feels safe, he decides to continue his adventure in search of his treasure. He joins a caravan heading to an oasis in Egypt. On the caravan he meets another in search of his personal legend. Who did he meet?
