In the United States, the prevalence of obesity in children is estimated to be around 18.5%. In 2008, the CDC performed a study to determine if neighborhood type was associated with childhood obesity. The investigators decided to sample 50 children with obesity and 80 children without obesity and then asked whether they lived in a rural or urban neighborhood.
