In this discussion, you will meet each other and learn about each other's thoughts regarding a new Constitutional Convention. Imagine that in 2030, because of “a significant event,” 42 U.S. states call for a new constitutional convention. It was agreed that each state would send two delegates to the new constitutional convention. Even though the primary purpose of the new constitutional convention was about the “the significant event,” other delegates advocated for other political, social, and economic changes to the U.S. Constitution.

1. What “signals” (news stories, events, a president’s executive order, Congressional legislation, and/or Supreme Court decisions) do you see in the recent past (1945+) that suggest the need to add to/amend the current U.S. Constitution?
2. Using C. Wright Mill's concept of sociological imagination, imagine that you have been selected by your state’s legislature to attend a modern day Constitutional Convention. You attend the newly formed Constitutional Convention representing your state’s concerns and your own concerns.
   • Based on your academic knowledge of the 1787 Constitutional Convention, the 1789 Constitution, and the current Constitution, identify and explain one change you would recommend that would benefit your state. Provide examples of the specific articles, sections, or clauses from the Constitution that support your suggestions for change to the US Constitution.
