In this Lab you will explore some ideas about Energy: the Work-Energy Theorem. the Conservation of Mechanical Energy. etc. We will dene a Conservative Force as a Force such that the Net Work of this Force around a closed path is 0 J: an example of such a Force is Gravity. This may make intuitive sense. Gravity will "help" an object fall 5 m. but then will 'hurt' the object's efforts to rise 5 m. The "help" and "hurt" cancel out. hence the Net Work is 0 J. Other examples of Conservative Forces are the Ideal Spring Force and the Electromagnetic Force. To start. choose the "Intro\" option and start the simulation. Make sure you have expanded the Energy chart in the top left hand corner. and selected the Reference Height option in the bottom left hand corner. Place your skater on the U-shaped track and observe the energy prole during the skater's motion.
