Scenario information
The following information is a brief overview of the call to which you respond. It should be familiar to you from Assignment 7.1. Additional information may be provided in the questions which follow as needed.
For the purposes of this assignment, you can assume the following:
- You are a general duty constable with Valley Hills Police Service, working Zone B-2, and have been dispatched to the scene of a suspicious sudden death. The dispatcher has given the address as 1745 Spruce Street, Valley Hills, Alberta.
- That you are the first officers on scene, having responded to a call from your dispatcher.
- On the way to the scene, you advise your supervisor Sgt. Neil LUND of your destination.
- That you have obtained all available information by asking the 6 W's.
- That you have assessed the residence as being safe to enter.
- That you have completed an initial assessment of the interior of the residence.
Upon arrival, you are directed to the master bedroom by paramedic Donna JAMES. She advises you that the individual in the bedroom is deceased. She tentatively identifies him as Leonard STEPHENS.
JAMES advises that EMS has been on scene for 15 minutes prior to your arrival. They are on their way out now to an emergency call. She introduces you to MANDY POLLOCK, who describes herself as STEPHENS' parole officer. She is upset and in shock, but was able to confirm that she made the initial 9-1-1 call to the Valley Hills Police Service when she came to check up on STEPHENS after he missed his appointment. She also says that the mother of Leonard Stephens lives in Rosetown, SK.
