In this project, you are going to explore the graphing calculator and you will see how it works with functions. This is an individual project which you will be working alone in it. Part I: You will be asked first to draw the function f ( x )=x as a basic function using the graphing calculator and get familiar with the different keys. You need to find the following and explain how to get them from the calculator: 1. 2. 3. 4. a table of x and y values the x and y-intercepts Domain Range You will repeat the same exercise for the following functions: a) f ( x )=x +V where V is any Real numbers (ex. y = x + 2, y = x - 3, y = x +5, etc.) b) f ( x )=Kx where K is any Real numbers (ex. y = 2x, y = -3x, y = (1/2)x, etc.) Then you have to analyze and write an observation between the Basic function f (x) = x and the functions: i) ii) f(x) = x + V (in part a) f(x) = kx (in part b) Part II: Find a real application to be used for any linear function. There are a lot of real applications in your text book in the word problems to get you started. You will be asked to have your project all computerized, it is your choice to be creative to show and explain it with a real life application. Make sure to submit your project through Bb as an attachment. You can use any graphing calculator by Google on line but make sure to state at the end all the recourses that you used during this project.
