Today is your first skills development session with Trudy since you worked with her to develop an Individual Support Plan. You will support her to complete online research on DJing with a disability including equipment required.
She is excited to start the work so she can move towards working as a DJ again.

Set up for the role play:
Get dressed as if you are going to work, ensuring your appearance is in line with Banksia Cares Code of Conduct Policy and Procedure.
Ask a friend, family member or colleague to act as Trudy.
Brief your volunteer on the scenario and action plan. Give them a copy of the Participant Instruction Sheet Download Participant Instruction Sheetto read to help them play their role and character effectively
Explain to your volunteer how the discussion will run and answer any questions they may have about the role they are playing. Make sure they are clear on how they can contribute to the meeting and the discussions. Do this before starting the role play.
Set up a space that replicates a meeting area eg a quiet space that allows for discussion with a chair for you both, and if available a table.
You will need a computer or laptop or other device to do online research.
Complete the role play:
Use Trudys Individual Support Plan to guide your skills development session.
You should:
Introduce yourself and the skills development session.
Confirm Trudys understanding and gain consent to start session.
Ask her if she has any questions.
Teach Trudy the basics of online searching. Use an active support technique such as AskInstructPromptShowGuide.
Discuss the session with Trudy to evaluate its success.
Discuss the disclosure report and ask if it has been followed up
Record your role play and submit the video for your teacher to mark. Aim to keep the role play and recording under minutes.
