In this type of study, information about members of a given population are systematically collected. Australia's national statistical agency, providing an official source of independent and reliable information on a wide range of economic, social, population and environmental matters. They tell the real story of Australia, its economy and its people by bringing life and meaning to numbers. The National census is conducted every 5 years. The questions asked in the census are used to derive variables. In the 2021 census, there were 45 new variables, where most of these were derived from the new questions on long-term health conditions

and service in the Australian Defence Force.

For each of the variables given below (a)-(h), identify: I. the variable type, with a brief description (1 brief sentence) of why you chose that type;

II. the most appropriate graph to display the distribution (just mention the name of the graph type). [1.5 marks for addressing each variable listed below, answering both parts (I) and (II) for

each variable] Some questions and variables collected in the census survey:

a) What is the person's date of birth and age? Data from this question is coded in ten-year groups. [0-9, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39 etc...]

b) Country of birth of father? This variable indicates the country of birth of each person's father.

c) How many dependent children who are still at school? [0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 etc.]

d) Citizenship status. This variable records whether a person has Australian citizenship. The data is used to understand the tendency of different migrant groups to take up citizenship and to measure the size of the groups eligible to vote.

e) Weekly household income? Recorded as the amount in $AUD.

f) Occupation - This variable describes the primary job or occupation held by employed people in the week prior to Census Night. Occupation is coded using the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO), 2013, Version 1.3.

g) Last week, how many hours did Person 1 work in all jobs? Recorded as the number of hours worked.

h) Type of long-term health condition. This variable records the type of selected long-term health condition(s) a person has reported. Respondents can record multiple long-term health conditions.
