In this week's textbook reading, on page 14, you will find a section titled: A Corporate Social Responsibility Perspective. This section briefly introduces us to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). As much of the material in our course will involve using quantitative parameters to reach decisions, we will have our first DB on a non-quantitative topic, CSR. An often mentioned article by detractors of CSR is "The Case Against Corporate Social Responsibility."

In this DB you will express an informed personal opinion regarding CSR and support it.

To participate:

1) Read the article mentioned above.

2)Find an article that is favorable to CSR; then provide a link and a summary of the article in your discussion board post.

3)Define CSR own words and express your opinion regarding CSR by answering the questions below. Make sure to give plenty of examples and take a firm stand.

• Do companies have a responsibility to act in the public interest?
• Will companies profit from doing so?
• Should companies be intent on serving some larger social purpose?
