In your chapter 3 assignment, you outlined a primary goal; measurable objectives; and a list of activities/services for your hypothetical human service program. Use that information and prepare a line item budget to accomplish your goals and objectives.
A primary goal for your program. The goal of this programs is to bridge the gap between child welfare and domestic violence services providers to enhance family safety, create permanency for children, reduce removals of children from non-offending parents, and hold batterers accountable.
Specific measurable objectives that would help meet the goal you identified. Promote efforts from the department of children and families to focus on prevention and early childhood development. Support domestic violence prosecution team and promote domestic violence councils effort to increase community awareness. Support child abuse prosecution team and promote efforts of Palm Beach County sheriff department. Provide services and referrals to those In need of resources that assist victims in making informed choices in their lives. Prompt establishment of paternity and child support awards. Timely enforcement of child support and health insurance requirements.
A list of activities or services that would be helpful in meeting your objectives.
Some activities or services that would be helpful in meeting my human service programs objectives are firstly just being with them. Showing children that you are there for them and are supporting them goes a long way in their mental recovery. Secondly, checking in regularly is another helpful activity for my program. Children who experience such a traumatic event need constant social support to help them feel like the priority and feel recognized and valued. Another activity that can be helpful to my program is to reduce stress and build coping skills for the child. Stress can trigger mental breaks and cause children or anyone to refer back to the traumatizing events that they have gone through and just damage the mental health for children. Building coping skills is a big factor as the child will have to learn how to cope and live with the fact that they experienced their parents abuse. Finally, encouraging friendships is an activity that my program would be big on to help each child realize that they are not alone and have some people other than family who support them and understand their situation.
