In your paper state to me: 1. The neglect score, 2. The abuse score, 3. Tell me whether the child is at high risk, moderate risk, or low risk of both abuse and neglect, 4. Finally, tell me what one would manage this case. Mary is a 23-year-old single mom with 3 kids aged 8, 6, and 4. She smokes THC and is not sending her 8 and 6 year old to school. The call came in on educational neglect. Mother says she doesn't always send her kids to school because they are too hard to get up and she has trouble with day care for her 4-year-old. Mom does work full-time. However, she only makes $10/hour as a nurse's aide. The father of the 3 kids is in jail for the last 5 years for selling drugs. She is currently 2 months behind in her rent and is about to get evicted. She let you into her home and is asking for help. She admits to smoking THC because she is stressed out over money. She doesn't report ever being in a D/V relationship and she was not abused as a child. You look in the system and she had 3 prior referrals all for neglect. Never has CPS keep the case open to offer services though. There are no marks on the children and the children report they are never beaten just hungry sometime because there is no food in the house at times and that they smell "funny stuff" coming from mom's room at night. They report they love their mom, but don't remember their dad.
