What recommendations would you make for your classmates based on their decisions?
The purpose of doing the simulation for the first time was to maintain the vision of the patriarch by relying heavily on the relationships within the family to maintain the vision. A final simulation resulted in the conclusion that the company needed to evolve into a more modern business model to remain competitive in the global market in the future. Several outside employees were hired to accomplish this task to achieve the desired outcome.
In the beginning, we were more of a mom-and-pop operation and gradually impacted the global economy. As a result of implementing the hiring outside of the company, we were able to achieve a medium position in the international market after implementing the hiring outside.
There was one last decision I made, which in retrospect may have contributed to the company's failure to succeed in the global market, which was to hire outside employees but not give them much ownership in the company. In the end, the new employees were not able to perform as well as they could have because they had their decisions overruled by the family members who owned a larger portion of the company, and thus, they were unable to be as effective as they could have been.
