Classmate: Numerous theories exist that describe and outline the methods by which leaders lead, each possessing its own set of advantages and merits. Throughout my twenty plus years of working experience, I have learned there is no one way to be a leader. A leader wears many hats and is flexible and accepting to change. When I first moved into a leadership role, my perception of a leader was to place a heavy emphasis on metrics. This attention to metrics led me to micromanage my group. I realized I had the power to create change, but I was influencing my followers incorrectly. Because of the power afforded to a leader, they can request direct change thru varying means, often not acknowledging the negative impact it can have on a follower.
