Research Question:Does gender affect political ideology?

Null Hypothesis (H0):There is no difference in political ideology between males and females.

Alternative Hypothesis (H1):There is a difference in political ideology between males and females.

Explanation:

• The National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago 1972 conducted the General Social Survey (GSS). It is designed to measure attitudes and opinions on various topics, including political ideology. The GSS data set contains information from over 50,000 respondents in the United States and has been used to study various social phenomena.
• In this research project, three variables were chosen from the GSS dataset: gender (GENDER), an education level (EDUC), and political ideology (POLVIEWS). Gender was measured by asking respondents to identify their sex as either male or female. Education level was measured by asking respondents to indicate the highest level of school they had completed or the highest degree they had received, with responses ranging from less than high school to graduate/professional degree. Political ideology was measured by asking respondents to identify themselves as liberal, moderate, or conservative.
• The research question posed in this project is: Does gender affect political ideology? To answer this question, a null hypothesis (H0) and an alternative hypothesis (H1) were created. The null hypothesis states that there is no difference in political ideology between males and females. The alternative hypothesis states that there is a difference in political ideology between males and females.
