Individual Integration Assignment

Organizational Behaviour is a course where students are able to see how concepts discussed in class can be used to understand situations that have been encountered in their personal and professional lives. In many cases, students are able to reflect on these experiences and view them a different perspective as a result. The purpose of this assignment is to provide students with an opportunity to reflect on the course, the concepts covered and examine how they can be used to understand the group experience you had in Management 250/2250.

Students will choose two (2) course concepts that were not covered in their group project (I.e., personality, motivation, etc.) to better understand the dynamics the group experienced throughout the course. This will involve providing specific examples from the group project and connecting them to key components of the topic area that are addressed in the course. For example, if you choose to analyze the team dynamics, topic #1 could discuss the dimensions that make a team effective or analyzing the team using Tuckman's five stages of team development using examples from your group experience.

Assignment Components

The assignment should include each of the following sections:

Introduction (approximately page)

  • Should identify the group that you were a part of and the topic area/company that you completed the group assignment on.
  • Group 6
  • Topic: Building effective teams.
  • The introduction should provide a brief overview of the group assignment and identify some of the strengths and challenges that the group encountered.
  • A thesis statement outlining the two topic areas that the paper will reflect on.

Topic Area #1(approximately 1 - 2 pages)

  • Using a concept outlined in the course (I.e., Big 5 Personality traits, Tuckman's stages of team development, etc.).
  • Using specific examples from your group experience, integrate the examples with components of the concept that you chose to analyze.
  • This section should go beyond a summary of what the group did and experienced.

Topic Area #2(approximately 1 - 2 pages)

  • Same as previous but should be completed on a separate course topic.

Personal Reflection (approximately 2 pages)

  • Based on your experiences throughout the course and specifically the group project, what strengths have you learned about yourself? Opportunities for growth? Each section should have 3 - 4 points and explain why they are strengths and opportunities for growth.
  • Based on what you believe are your opportunities for growth, what steps will you take to improve upon these areas? The steps should be specific, actionable and demonstrate how it will improve your skills in this area.
  • Reflect on the course as whole and how it may/may not contribute to your professional development, studies or personal life.

Conclusion (approximately page)

  • A brief summary of what this paper discussed.

References

  • Any references used in the paper should be referenced in APA 7th Edition format.
  • At least one reference should be used.
