Deliverables
Individual Report (10%) – Week 7
Students will select two research methods taught in class (e.g. interviews, surveys, landing pages, focus groups, observation, literature review and others) to identify an Industry 4.0* or Industry 5.0** challenge worthwhile solving in a certain industry selected by the students.
The Commercial Report will include:
1. Description of the Market Research tools selected. At least 2 different tools need to be applied and the following metrics need to be used (minimum of 3 interviews, 10 surveys responses, 1 landing page with A/B Testing, 1 focus group of min. 3 people, 5 observations, analysis of 3 citations for literature review);
2. Explanation and analysis on how market research can facilitate the collection of relevant data for the challenge identified;
3. Considerations about limitations and ethics of Market Research applied to the challenge;
4. Conclusions and recommendations (students must use critical analysis and their own views).
Examples of challenges to provide inspiration/brainstorming to students:
• Industry 4.0: Data privacy in our workplace, cybersecurity as a tool of international espionage, robots in the future of workforce, health effects of AR/VR on human vision & workplace, smart contracts and the penetration of blockchain in our e-wallets, AI and machines managing humans.
• Industry 5.0: Ethics of inserting technology in the human body, Machines outsmarting humans with Quantum computing, Use of AR/VR in retail to penetrate into the human mind, Technology and its effects on workers’ isolation.
Word Count
Quality and originality of thought, analysis, evidence and expression are more important than quantity. Students should aim for a maximum of 6 x A4 single spaced pages (excluding appendices) or 8 PowerPoint slides (excluding appendices), with minimum font size of 11.
Format
The Report must be submitted in any appropriate format (e.g. PDF, PPT, Doc). Students are encouraged to be creative in their reports and enhance any written elements with visuals and multi?media elements, where appropriate.
Submission
The Report is to be submitted electronically through FLO by Wednesday of Week 7 by 9PM (1 hour after class).
Referencing
To avoid plagiarism, students are required to provide a reference whenever they include information from other sources in their work. Referencing conventions required for this topic are: Harvard Referencing or APA. Evaluation and Grading
Individual projects will be graded according to the Individual Assignment Grading Rubric set out in this document.
