Inference Graphic Organizer

For this project, you are going to build a graphic organizer to help you identify what type of test/interval to use to answer an inference question. It can be in whatever form you want as long as it has the information listed below, although I recommend a flow chart(starting with categorical vs. quantitative data)or a large table with column headings for each of the key pieces of information.

You need this information for all of the inference procedures we've learned:

  1. Is it categorical or quantitative?
  2. How many samples did you take to get your data?
  3. How do you label your parameter? (i.e. p,, etc.)
  4. How do you label your statistics?
  5. What are the conditions for running the test?
  6. Is it t, z, or chi square?
  7. How do you find degrees of freedom?
  8. What is the name of the test?
  • If it is a confidence interval:
  1. What is the formula for confidence interval by hand?
  2. What is the calculator function for confidence interval?

(On TI-84 calculator)

OR If it is a hypothesis test:

  1. What is the formula to find the test statistic by hand? How do you find the p-value from this?
  2. What is the formula to find the test statistics and p value on the calculator?

You must include this information for all of the one and two sample intervals and tests for means and proportions.

You also need:

All of the chi square tests

Paired tests

Interval and tests for slope

You should have a minimum of 13 tests/intervals in your graphic organizer.

Feel free to include any other information that helps you tell different tests apart in addition to the number of samples, type of data, and whether it is a test or interval.
