If this seems outlandish, note that a lot o people seem to regard it as at least conceivable that they will go on to exist in Heaven for some other place after their earthly demise, and presumably would involve them going on to exist without their body, since your body is not meant to go on to Heaven with you (it stays buried in the ground).
