Inside the U.S. miltiary, one of the most important operational concepts is warfighting functions. It requires a methodical approach to planning, executing, and receiving feedback, which helps to accomplish the mission and provide a military goal. To increase the success of their operations, it also gives military leaders direction on how to evaluate the circumstances, create plans, and distribute resources. As a result, withing the U.S. military, the warfighting functions offer a common language and understanding that provide integration and coordination. ADP 3-0 (2019), identifies the six warfighting functions, which are, command and control, intelligence, fires, sustainment, protection, and movement and maneuver. The successful completion of a mission depends on every warfighting function, and these functions interdependent. Command and control is the most crucial, in my opinion. It makes it possible for military leaders to command, coordinate, and manage their forces during the course of a mission in order to become successful in a effective and efficient manner. On the other hand, knowing the mission objective and knowing when to use direct and indirect fire to support military operations, both air and ground integration, is crucial to my job as a Field Artillery Paratrooper.
