Instruction:
In this case, you will estimate the beta of Tesla (TSLA) or any company of your choice using the real-world data. The Beta Estimation Demo Video illustrates how to use Excel to perform beta estimation from scratch.
Complete the following steps.
1. Choose a real-world company and create two templates to estimate the company's beta coefficient.
Template 1: Using three methods (formula, function, and regression), estimate the beta of a public company. Data Range: the most recent three years, Data frequency: weekly. Provide a scatter chart showing the trend line.
Template 2: Using three methods (formula, function, and regression), estimate the beta of the same company in template 1. Data Range: the most recent five years, Data frequency: monthly. Provide a scatter chart showing the trend line.
(*Note the two templates will yield different beta estimates due to different data ranges and data frequencies. This is consistent with the fact that beta changes over time. )
2. Complete your submission by uploading your Excel file using this assignment link. Please note that all assignments must be submitted through Canvas. No submission through email will be accepted.
