The beverages are soft drinks (carbonated and non-carbonated) while the confectionery includes chocolate bar, milk candy and chewing gum. The business is a public limited company and it is involved in the manufacturing and distribution of its various product brands. The company currently employ more than 5000 workers and its products are available in 100 countries. All of the production of ABC still take place in South Africa. Even though ABC manufacture goods in large quantities, the company still uses batch production rather than flow production method. a. Critically evaluate the reason why ABC uses batch production when making chocolate bars (Smarks). b. Due to the increase in demand and the new legislation on the carbon emission tax in South Africa, ABC is considering outsourcing the production of its soft drink to another company in Kenya and Nigeria.
