Although Barbarians at the Gate is comedic, (or at least I think so) it is also an excellent case study of the Leveraged Buyout (LBO) of a major U.S. corporation (RJR Nabisco) in the 1980's. In class, we have (and will continue to) discuss corporate takeovers and LBOs in detail including:

the motivation of the individuals involved,

company vulnerability,

the LBO process,

the economic environment that promotes a LBO, and

who benefits and loses from an LBO.

In your essay, describe the LBO of RJR Nabisco as it is presented in the movie by addressing these concepts. In other words, this essay should be thought of us writing a one-page description of LBOs in general using the case of RJR Nabisco as an example.
