Instructions for Homework Assignments 11 and 12 For this assignment, you will use repeated measures ANOVA to examine whether different caffeine conditions affect isometric peak force. For these fabricated data, one group of subjects performed an isometric contraction of the knee extensors under each of three conditions: (1) under placebo, (2) at a low dose of caffeine, and (3) at a high dose of caffeine. The subjects came to the laboratory on three separate days, and each day was under a different drug condition. A minimum of 72 hours of rest was given between test days, and the order of drug administration was in a randomized counterbalanced order. The scores in green are the values for the dependent variable-isometric peak force (N)-under each of the drug conditions. The ANOVA calculations are found in the chapter 13, lecture 2 mini-lecture. (We call the repeated measures factor for this assignment "Drug" as opposed to "Time"). All calculations must be completed using equations you code in Excel, but you may use AVERAGE and STDEV.S. A couple of hints: The sums of squares total (SS total) should be approximately 7191, and the mean square error (MSerror) should be approximately 26.67. c Placebo Placebo-M, (Place-M Low dose Low dose-Mg Low dose-Ma High dose Subject 1 350 176 169 Subject2 192 187 7 Subject3 193 204 204 Subject 4 176 185 185 9 Subjects 194 199 197 10 Subject 6 195 381 109 11 Subject7 IRE THE 201 12 Subject 179 105 INS 13 Subject9 183 354 156 14 Subject 10 373 366 170 15 Subject 11 157 139 16 Subject 12 167 177 359 180 17 2010 22 Grand mean (M) 23 Drug mean-M Drug mean-M 25 N 26 35 27 35 $5 Drug Subjects ANOVA Table MS 26 275 28 15 29 55 30 Dru Emer 33- 33 MS 34 M 35 MS 36 F 37 Fot-0.01) ANOVA Table MS Sig? yes or no Given your calculations, does it appear that there are statically s Without actually performing past hoc comparisons, which low dose) is most likely to be statistically different Without actually performing post her comparisons, which pairwise comparison of conditions few dose vs placebo, high des vs placebo g low dose) is least likely to be statistically different?
