RESEARCH PROJECT

You will chose a tax issue to research by selecting a professional journal tax article from the list provided. Beginning with the journal article, you will become familiar with the tax issue by reading primary and secondary sources of tax law available in the electronic research tools provided for the course. This assignment is not to describe what the article reports, but your own investigation into theissuebased on suggested sources in the article and other sources in the tools available. You will play the role of an instructor in a continuing education class of accounting professionals. You will present your topic with the assumption that none of your audience is familiar with the journal article you have read. It is important that you present your topic in such a way as to demonstrate knowledge of the primary sources (legislative, administrative, and judicial) referenced in the article and how the sources relate to your chosen issue. You will provide the following methods of communicating your research.

WRITTEN REPORT:

The written report should consist of a body of 5 to 7 pages of double-spaced, Times New Roman 12 point, 1-inch margins. A cover page should be provided with your name and the title of the report. A reference page should be provided and any tables or figures needed to clarify the writing in addition to the body of the report. The report should be uploaded to the provided assignment link as either a Word or rtf format. Remember you are writing the report in the role of a continuing education course with the audience being accounting professionals. You may refer to the article in the paper, but your discussion of the issue needs to come from your understanding the research tools. This is not a book report on the article. It is a discussion of the tax issue in question to an educated audience.
