Overview

Your team is a new startup, working in the Software Development domain. You have been approached by a client to take on a new project. This project could be an imaginary new website, mobile app or enterprise software application. The assumption is that the client has already provided your team with an overview of the proposed project. Your task is to produce a technical report $($project management plan$)$ outlining your intended plan and solution for the project.

Report

Your team is required to produce a technical report $($project management plan$)$ that outlines your solution to the client. Your report must include the following:

Introduction

Project overview

Goals of the project

Project scope

Key milestones

Identification of stakeholders

Technical solution

Overview of solution

Major components

Logical System Design $($utilising UML notations including Usecase, Sequence and Class diagrams$)$

Justification of technical solution

Development and project management plan

Project methodology

Programming languages and environments

Required resources

Development team composition and roles

Project Effort$/$Cost Estimation $($utilising either of the estimation techniques$)$

Preliminary execution schedule

Include all major components in your proposed solution

Must include component dependency relationships

Must include a Gantt$/$PERT Chart developed in any of the Project Management Tool

Include Risk Analysis and Mitigation Strategy $($utilising either of the estimation techniques$)$

Your report may include additional sections, such as $($but not limited to$)$:

$-$ User training

$-$ Deployment

$-$ Maintenance

Tips for the report:

You are not expected to know everything about how this project will be developed and managed, but you need to demonstrate that you have thought deeply about the solution.

You will be required to do additional research to find the best solution: not all the answers are in the lecture slides!

You do not have to say how much the project will cost but be realistic about your required resources.

You are free to add any additional sections to the report as you see fit.

There is not enough room in the report to go into depth about everything.

Be sure to consider how the project will be managed, not just the development solution.

Make sure you justify the choices you have made. Explain why you have chosen to manage and develop the project the way you have.
