  3. Scenario #1

Susie is upset because she did not receive the time off she requested. She is telling everyone - other teachers and parents - how unfairly she is treated.

  • How would you handle the situation? As a director you were unable to give her the whole day to go to her brother's play at school in the afternoon due to low staffing. Susie was not interested in taking just the couple of hours necessary to see the play.

Scenario #2

Amanda is struggling as the lead teacher in the toddler room. She is not following the lesson plans she created and behavioral incident reports are starting to increase that include biting and pushing where the other child is getting hurt.

  • What steps do you take to support Amanda and make sure that the children are safe?

Teachers bring their cell phones into the classroom and on the playground and use them to make personal calls and/or text on company time. Parents have started to complain that they are concerned as to whether the teachers are really caring for their child(ren).

  • You are a new director and the center where you came from had a company policy of no personal cell phones in the school. How would you change policy while creating your new team?
