Using the country you chose for your final project paper, you will do your own research to explore and compare similarities and differences between the U.S. and your country based on the following three factors:

  • housing and geographic location,
  • religion
  • family and socio-cultural beliefs and values

Step 1: Identify 2-3scholarly, peer reviewed articles that focus on the above factors for your country and the U.S. Non-academic resources are not acceptable for this assignment.

Step 2: Explore and list key findings relative to the following requirements

  • Describe the geographic location and housing of the population of the country you chose. In your findings, include population; information about the location of the country relative to the U.S. and other key areas of the globe; physical features of the country; and a description of the various types of housing available to different populations withing the country including materials and any challenges related to housing due to the geographic location. Consider differences for urban and rural populations. How does the geographic location and housing situation in your country of choice look similar or different to that of the U.S.? What challenges do these countries share relative to housing and location? How are their challenges different?
  • Describe the religious make up of the country you chose and how it may or may not influence the daily lives of the people. What percentage of the population hold and/or practice various religions? How does this variety, or lack thereof, impact the values and behaviors within the country? How does the impact of religion in your country of choice look similar or different to that of the U.S.? What values do these countries share relative to religion? What challenges might exist for both countries relative to religion? How might these be similar or different?
  • Describe the family socio-cultural beliefs and values of the country you chose. What are the socio-cultural beliefs and values of families in that country? How does gender effect their roles in the family? What does parenting look like? How are the elderly treated? What secular or religious traditions do they practice? What are their beliefs and values? How does your country of choice compare to the U.S. in regard to socio-cultural beliefs and values? How do different values and beliefs between the U.S. and your country of choice create challenges as well as opportunities for global understanding and collaboration?
