1. On May 01, 2007, Jamie applied for a life insurance policy with DM Insurance Company. Jamie submitted the application to the branch manager of DM and paid the required premium. The manager then forwarded the application to the head office for approval. On August 14, 2007, DM's head office sent a notice of acceptance to Jamie. However, Jamie died before receiving the notice of acceptance. Jamie's husband now wants to recover the premium that was paid. Can he recover the premium?
2. On January 01, 2020, Val took an insurance policy on the life of his best friend, Von. They have been living together since high school as both are orphans. On April 10, 2020, Von died because of COVID 19 virus. Val filed his insurance claim. Should the insurer pay?
3. Nala owns a condominium unit presently insured with Rafiki Insurance Company for P2 million. Nala later sells the unit to Simba. Simba, was not able to transfer the insurance to his name. Subsequently, a fire burned down the whole building due to arson. Who may collect the insurance?
4. Pink took a life insurance over her own life. She designated Blue, her boyfriend as the sole beneficiary of the insurance. Pink died in accident. Blue filed his insurance claim but Violet, Pink's sister contested the claim asserting that she is the proper beneficiary as she is the sole heir of Pink and that Blue is not even their relative. Is the contention of Violet correct?
5. Kate took an insurance policy on her life. In 2017, she was previously diagnosed to have urinary tract infection. On the policy, she was asked whether within the past five years, she ever had or sought advice for high blood pressure, skin disease, urine, kidney or bladder disorder. She disclosed that she was treated for eczema. Kate died in a plane crash. Can Kate's heirs claim from the insurer?
