The Jamaican Red Bat (Lasiurus Degelidus) is a species of the Vesper Bat and is endemic to Jamaica. It is listed on the IUCN's Red list as a vulnerable species. Local interest in the Jamaican Red Bat has risen, as its cxcretions are being hailed as a potent fertilizer used to speed up the maturity of agricultural crops. The bats are being held in captivity by a few local farmers to harvest their excretions. Local agents have been vigilant in prosecuting such farmers and releasing the bats back into the wild. Operations of a joint task force have led Jamaican authorities to the Cayman Islands where a large number of bats were found caged on an agro processing plant there. are a customs manager tasked with submitting a report to your colleagues updating them of the general situation of the bats, advising of the legal obligations of Customs under international law and the steps to be taken regarding the scheduled return of the bats found in captivity in the Cayman Islands.
