International Trade The border between Mexico and the United States provides a sharp divide between one of the richest and most technologically advanced countries in the world, and a developing country that is still grappling with huge economic, social and political problems. Yet, it seems that the two countries could not do without each other. It is also necessary to examine the relationship with our other North American neighbor, Canada. Recently, the three-member countries in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) transitioned into a new trade pact known as the United States-Mexico-Canada-Agreement, or USMCA. This new agreement represented a seismic shift from NAFTA. Discuss the pros and cons of the deepening relationship and linkages between the U.S. and our North American trade partners, highlighting some of the issues each country needs to address as the world changes and North America becomes more connected to the rest of the world. Discuss the differences between NAFTA and USMCA. Discuss the long-term effects of a failed trade pact. Examine Brexit and project the long-term consequences for the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (UK).
