Interview Assignment Assignment Overview: You are required to interview a leader you respect and submit a reflection report. The interviewee can be a coach, mentor, volunteer coordinator, employer, community member, or peer. They may not be a family member or a close friend. The interview should take place in-person and is meant to allow you to learn more about the interviewee’s leadership experience while reflecting on your own leadership. Sample interview questions may include: What type of leadership style do you generally follow? Who have been your inspirations, or someone you have admired and/or tried to emulate? How has that influenced you as a leader? What are your strongest capabilities and attributes as a leader? What are your greatest needs for development as a leader? How have you dealt with “roadblocks” in your professional life? Anything you could or should have done differently? What are some of your greatest successes? Are there any specific instances where you have felt that you’ve made a real difference? Can you think of a challenging situation you’ve encountered in a leadership role and how did you overcome it? What did you learn from that experience? What motivates you? How do you balance your private and professional life? How do you measure success in your life? Ensure your report is more than a simple transcript of the interview. You should be critical and reflect your own thoughts and learning in the paper as well. A suggested outline is as follows: Introduction - who you interviewed and why you chose that leader. The interview - reflection on the interesting and key points from the interview. Summary and conclusion - personal insights, what you've learned from this interview. Maximum word count is 1500 words.
