Intro duction There is a wide variety of people of people from different backgrounds and cultures that any given social worker will encounter at any given time. It is important for social workers to understand communities from a professional perspective. Humans have a tendency to be bias or subjective in their views of others but when viewed through a professional lense, social workers can better assess the needs of the people they are helping. Analyzing a community enables the social worker gain an understanding of the community-specific issues that a client may be facing. Integration into the community allows the social worker to gain a glimpse into the reality of the clients (T eater p. 2)
