Introduction An Indoor Air Quality Assessment evaluates various air quality parameters such as carbon dioxide, temperature, humidity, and volatile organic compounds among others to assess the indoor air quality of a specific area.
Objective: Perform an IAQ Assessment for a specified area using the Extech IAQ CO2, RH and Temperature Monitor.
Procedures: 1. Setup IAQ monitor and Hotwire Ananometer according to manufacturer's instruction. 2. Collect CO2, Temperature (oC) and Relative Humidity Values (%) and Flowrate (ft/min) for five (locations). 3. Determine the cross-sectional area of the air vents measured at each location. 4. Collect site photos for each of the sampling locations along with the following: i. Identity of the location and description; ii. Approx. occupancy Resources:
Please refer to EACO's Indoor Air Quality Guidelines Source: http://www.eacoontario.com/pdf/2020/EACO%20Indoor%20Air%20Quality%20Guideline%20for%20Non-Industrial%20Workplaces.pdf
Results: In a table, provide a listing the CO2, Temperature and Relative Humidity measurements with locations, dates and activity occurring in or around the sampling locations.
Discussions: Discuss the values collected during the course of the investigation against EACC's IAQ Guidelines. Calculate volumetric flow rate of outside air cubic feet per minute based on the following information: A conference hall contains 100 people and assuming 20 cfm per person is required. The inside CO2 concentration is 410 ppm and the outdoor concentration is 355 ppm. The flowrate measured 48 feet per minute from a vent which measures 18 inches by 15 inches.
Based on the information provided, is the volumetric flow rate of outside air sufficient? OHS 4003 - Industrial Hygiene and Toxicology Lab Page 2 of 2 Recommendations: Provide recommendations on how to improve IAQ that were observed during the course of the investigation.
CO2, Temperature (oC) and Relative Humidity Values (%) and Flowrate (ft/min) gotten four different locations
1. North: CO2: 57.5, Temp: 23.4oC, RH: 59.9
2. South: CO2 44.5, Temp: 22.6oC RH: 61.2
3. East: (Cafeteria room): CO2 42.3, Temp: 23.3 oC, RH: 63.3
4. West Dinning Room: CO2: 55, Temp: 22.9oC, RH: 56
