In class, students will be divided into teams with alphabet letters including: G,H,I,J,K and L. Each team will consist of 4 students and each student will be marked as number from 1 to 4. For example, my team is team J and each of the members in the team will be featured as J1, J2, J3, and J4. These letters are the usernames for each student logging in the SAP navigation, which is the link below to start playing the Logistics_Extended simulation game. Once the students are success in login to the link, the game will start as a simulation of Logistic performance of dairy products in real-time world, which are:  milk, cream, yoghurt, butter, cheese, and ice cream. In this Logistic simulator, each team will follow the basic system of Logistic network to distribute and market the products to customers in Germany. Logistic network of simulation are: products procurement, warehouse, finance performance, transportation, delivery and selling. Moreover, using “push” or “pull” logistic strategy to magnify the income of each team.

The process will follow as steps which are guided by instructors. First, each team will have to decide the specific number of products are going to be bought. Second, teams will get to determine the price of each product sold to consumers in North, West, and South of Europe. The third step will be transported to each regional warehouses of Germany, this step will be established according to the price of transportation and the number of units that each regional warehouse of Germany can hold. Final step will be elected by the stimulator, calculating the “loss” or “profit” for each team and the number of units sold. Besides, each team will compete with each other as competitors. Thus, the game will be in one minute for each round, and each round consists of ten days of circulating products to Germans using basic Logistic network.

Team action

For team, four students will break down into three missions which are: forecasting, price decision, and inventory planning. The forecasting and price decision task will have one student for each, and inventory planning will have two students. To operate the simulation game, instructors will give the participant’s job aid hard copy for every student, and students will follow that and their guidance Firstly, the student who is responsible for forecasting will set a prophecy quantity for each dairy product. Then, the second step will be changing the price of each product. After that, the final step will be stock transfer, in this process the team will deliberate the quantity of each product to each regional warehouse, and unique logistic strategy (“push” or “pull”).

Team D has four students, including: Dao Duy Quang Nguyen, Noor AlKhuzaiel, Lavinia Tamani, and Gash. Gash will play the role of forecasting, Noor AlKhuzaiel will be the price maker, and Dao Duy Quang Nguyen and Lavinia Tamani will take place in inventory planning role.

At first, the game implies with the confusing of students when forming a team and logging in the link and website under supervision of instructors. As well as that, the simulator is quite time-consuming when comes to one minute equal with ten days in each round. Admittedly, the game is quite similar to logistic structure in the real world without the external influences. Furthermore, the game is suitable for honing and achieving knowledge for Logistic infrastructure in real business. As for team D, the team is quite well-known with the basic accounting knowledge can be used to calculate the stock and the cost price for each product. As well as that, the team also knows the focusing direction of products to particular region of Germany, along with using basic knowledge of procurement, stock strategy, transportation, and marketplace.

Decision making

In team D, debate will be made before proceeding, then final decision is mainly made through conversation. But mainly, Gash and Dao Duy Quang Nguyen are the members who plays the role of inputting the data to the simulator. First two round, there was no mistake and team J ranked two out of six teams with moderate income and process. Obviously, team J got moderate results from $550 to more than $3000 income. The progress continued to be balanced until round 6, team J’s sale has gone down and eventually met losses since then. In the final round, team J was ranked five out of six with the loss of $21000, but conversely, team J has found out the mistakes during the conversation and decision making operation. From round 1 to round 8, team J’s communication between members was considered as a beneficial display. Every member shares individual knowledge and experience related to logistic and marketplace. Dao Duy Quang Nguyen and Gash gave reliable information about how each dairy product was delivered in regional warehouses of Germany. Along with that, Noor AlKhuzaiel and Lavinia Tamani have come to the conclusion of quantity purchasing for each dairy product and handing it over Germany’s regional warehouses. As well as that, combining those information, we had successfully made the explicit price for each product. For team J’s success factors are decisions between members for each task including whole team’s decisions. Also, in the marketplace, team J has realized that with the diversity of each region in Germany, the distribution of each product will be distinguished. In addition, the display of “push” or “pull” strategy along with the quantity for each region are very important in earning profit and income. In fact, because of the characteristics of regions in Germany has made the affair differently between them.

Strategy

After playing the game, team J had suffered from a loss in the final round. Team J should have come up with continuing procurement strategy. This plan is to buy stock from times to times, with 2 days of transferring the stock to regional warehouses. Additionally, team J could have put the price with ``.99 cent” for each price of products. Along with those strategies, team J could have come up with strategy of rising price of dairy products on the first day of sale. Later on, from day 2, price would be dropped down to moderate level or $1 higher than the cost price. According to team J’s point of view, these strategies may not be suitable for future teams, but base on inventory, quantity of orders, and stock transfer, the future teams can come up with basic idea to maximize the income. Moreover, checking the sale of each product in each region of Germany will be constructive in changing the price of products. In addition to this, calculating moderate cost price of 6 dairy products’ cost prices may also help in finding the right price of each product.
