Introduction

In the last project, you created a scale drawing or blueprint of a building. Remember, scale drawings and blueprints are 2D representations of 3D objects.

This project has two parts. In Part 1, you'll scale drawing of a home. In Part 2, you'll use your drawing to answer questions about surface area and volume. You'll also apply the Pythagorean Theorem and special right triangle formulas to different rooms in the home youdraw.

To complete the project, you will perform the following tasks. You will be asked a series of questions to help you complete the tasks.

1. Review yournotes andcourse contentfrom lessons 12 and 13, as necessary.
2. Draw a scale drawing of a home using a pencil and ruler, or technology.
3. Calculate the surface area of the home's walls.
4. Calculate the volume of one bedroom, including closet space.
5. Apply the Pythagorean Theorem to find distances for parts of oneroom.
6. Investigate and find special right triangles in the home.

Review your scale drawing of a home. You will use your drawing to answer questions about the walls' surface area and the volume of a bedroom. You will also apply the Pythagorean Theorem and special right triangle formulas to rooms in your drawing.

Painters use surface area to determine how much paint they need to buy. Most homes have 8-8-foot ceilings. Suppose you're going to paint the walls in a room on which you based your drawing. Determine the total surface area of the walls to be painted. Include the walls in the closets, but ignore windows and doors. Round your answer to the hundredth place. Also, show all of your calculations and label them appropriately for which room they represent, etc.
