INTRODUCTION: Take brief notes on the introductory material from the lab manual/handout/Pivot and expand on material learned from the lecture.

Briefly discuss the PROCEDURE of the lab.

Record all DATA using table format as a guide to keep your data organized. You may include diagrams of the equipment and setup or screenshots of virtual experiments.

Use your data to perform the CALCULATIONS and exercises. You may collaborate, but do your own work. Include graphs or screenshots of graphs when necessary.

At the end of the lab, write a CONCLUSION. Briefly explain its relevance and how the data and calculations pertain to the introductory theory. Also speculate on sources of error.

Activity 1 - Measuring length with a Meter Stick

A table length was measured several times by a group of students. To measure the table, the students let the meter stick hang off of each edge and measured the meter stick marking on each edge. After calculating the difference in the two measurements, the data was recorded into the table below. notice that the students were diligent and estimated between the lined of the millimeters to the nearest 0.5 millimeters. Record the data into your lab report.

TrialLength (cm)
1172.55
2172.50
3172.55
4172.60
5172.45
6172.40
7172.50
8172.55
9172.50
10172.55

Calculate the average length of the table.

Activity 2 - Measuring Length with a Metric Ruler

Using a small plastic ruler, measure the length of 6 different bay leaves (see the images below). Record the data in table format (notice that the units of the measurements can be written only at the top of the data table).
