IRAC METHOD
Following an Adelaide summer heat wave, Edward decides to have a ducted air conditioning system installed in his home. He contacts Cold Freeze Air Conditioning who provide him with a quote. He agrees to a total price of $10,000 to have the work completed. The installation takes three days. Edward, who had been counting down the hours to having a cool house, is devastated with the result. The system does not cool his house as he expected. Warmish air circulates throughout the rooms except for the bathroom. There, arctic-like air blasts out of the vent located directly above the toilet (not pleasant!). There is also a strange smell coming from the vent in the bedroom. Edward receives the bill from Cold Freeze Air Conditioning in the mail the next day. He telephones them and asserts that he will not pay the bill. He says performance must be exact you did not perform exactly as required since the air conditioning system does not work properly. He speaks with George. George is studying law part-time. He insists that Edward must pay the whole price he agreed to as per the quote. George states you now have an air conditioning system. It is your turn to pay the bill you agreed to pay. You may assume that the cost of remedial work is $1600. Advise Edward on whether he has to pay the full contract price. Issue: Must Edward
