Purpose Part B: Build understanding of the extra-organisational factors impacting the work of personnel inside organisations; develop critical analytical skills, data gathering techniques and evidence citing methods to support academic arguments.

Description: This assignment is based on an interview with a family member or friend (who is 45 years of age or older) about their experience of work and their (the interviewee) reflecting on that experience. The student is to think about the interviewee's responses and then 'map' or compare those responses to the materials covered in the course. There may be a partial match to the interviewee's experiences to concepts and readings presented in the course or no match at all. Work and the work environment twenty years ago may have been completely different. It is the similarities and the differences that should be discussed in the Report created by the student.

Technological advances have seen a lean to the automation of many jobs, while globalization has created new opportunities for workers in different countries. These changes have had a deep influence on the way we work, and they continue to evolve. In this assignment, I will reflect on the changing nature of work based on my interview with my father, who has been working for over 40 years. We discussed his experiences in the workforce, and how they have changed over time. Interview with My Father I interviewed my father about his experiences in the workforce. He started working at a young age, and he has held a variety of jobs over the years. He has worked in manufacturing, retail, and the service industry. My father told me that the biggest change he has seen in the workforce is the automation of jobs. He said that many of the jobs that he used to do our now done by machines. This has led to job losses for many workers, and it has also changed the way that work is done. My father also talked about the impact of globalization on the workforce. He said that the rise of international trade has created new opportunities for workers in different countries. However, it has also led to competition from workers in nations with inferior wages. This has put descending burden on wages in many nations, and it has made it harder for some employees to find work. Academic Research on the Changing Nature of Work There is a growing body of academic research on the changing nature of work. This research provides insights into the factors that are driving change, and the impact of change on workers. One of the key findings of this research is that the need for skilled employees is increasing, while the demand for unskilled workers is decreasing. This is due to the increasing automation of jobs.
