Irving Inventor is just a wizard of wonderful ideas. Everyday he has a new idea. His house is like a museum of crazy new inventions. Many of them don't work. But it would be cool if they did - like his Idea Helmet, or his Pimple Preventer. He heard you took a law course, so he called you to come over for a glass of wine because he wants to show you something. You knock on the door and he calls out, "Come in..." You step inside to see a robot version of yourself. It looks and sounds just like you. Irving says, "Ta-dahhh! This is a perfect Artificial Intelligence version of you. I downloaded your brain last time you were here." He tells you he figured out the whole "AI thing" and can make fully functional robots that look almost exactly like people. "It really wasn't that hard, ya know?" You tell him you need that wine. As he pours the wine, he starts talking about making money from his idea and how he might protect it from others. He says, "I have really sexy versions I want to sell to Chippendales and Hooters! But I want to keep all the rights." You haven't tested the robot to see if it is all he claims it is, but so far you are pretty convinced.your best to answer his questions in as much detail as possible by first explaining the law and then applying the law to his situation (the facts.) Try to be precise in your language, he will hold you accountable Apply the law to the situation and explain to him what classes of patents, if any apply to his idea.
