Is gross domestic product (ie, GDP) the best measure of a countries standard of living. Are there other indexes that we should be using to measure a countries standard of living? For instance, America has the highest GDP per capita in the world (excluding some Mideast countries that only produce oil), but do we really have the highest standard of living in the world? What does GDP say about income distribution? For example, in the class the gdp per capita might by $25,000, but what happens if Lebron James enrolls in this class, then what would be the gdp for the class?
