is the energy band gap between valence barrenal conduction band because of the geometry or because of energy level differences what mean to say is that if the energy level is higher between the antibonding orbital or bonding orbital or the conduction band and valence band does that mean that the energy band be higher yes or no

If so why is this energy difference there what is the logical$,$ scientific reason for it$?$
