Is the term Corporate Entrepreneurship an Oxymoron?? In chapter 2 we learned that the managerial style of management is very different from that of entrepreneurial management. They differ in strategic orientation, opportunity commitment, control and commitment of resources, management structure, reward philosophy, growth orientation and culture. The differences can be so stark as to wonder if they can ever be mixed. How can a large corporation that is run using a managerial decision making process ever encourage its managers to endorse and practice entrepreneurial management? In one, risk is encouraged and in the other risk is dangerous if it fails. Read about theses differences in chapter 2 and then consider and answer these questions.

1. If a company in which managerial decision is ingrained, creates a new project using entrepreneural management, where should it be located physically? In the same facility as the main company activities? How could managers using such different management styles exist in the same environment and could that create dissention between the 2 groups?

2. How do the rules and guidelines under which the managerial and entrepreneurial decisions makers differ? In authority, compensation, access to company resources etc.?
