is this good? In my experience it is situational. I have worked in local government for 24 years and have seen the workplace change dramatically. Until maybe 15 years ago, our office had procedures to follow and although relationships form and favorites are made, in general employees followed the rules, helped one another, and respected the government hierarchy. Management simply had an opendoor policy which made communication and expectations very clear. However, that is simply not the case anymore, especially since Covid. The office enviornment and non-management employees' are recognizing the vast difference of the haves and the have nots, which causes conflict between employees and management has taken a back seat from employee's perspective and has affected morale and created this new phenomenon of "quiet quitting". Quiet quitting is when the employee does not quit, and overtime begins to be unproductive. Employees morale and management communication and control (power) has shifted from employees' wellbeing to no guidance or care. On the other hand, my daughter who has begun her professional career in the private sector has support, guidance, and encouragement from her manager. I suppose it depends on lens I look through
