QUESTION 1 SYZ Agency is currently opening several positions in their agency. Applicant who is interested in applying can submit his/her application. The application will be received and reviewed by Human Resource (HR) staff. HR staff will check the applicant's academic requirements; if the requirements are met, HR staff will schedule for interview, and then invitation letter to attend the interview will be issued. If the academic requirements are not meet, the application will be rejected and HR staff will issue a notification of failure to the applicant and the process end. HR staff will continue to manage the interview session for those who passed this stage. During the interview, Head of Department (HOD) for related division will interview the applicant. HOD will then make the decision whether to offer or reject the applicant, and the status of offering will be forwarded to HR staff. Upon receiving the offer status, HR staff will update the status; reject or accept applicant. A letter will be prepared to inform the status of the application. Regardless of the offer status, the applicant will only get to know the application status once he/she received the letter from HR staff. a) Interpret the above process using Business Process Management Notation (BPMN) (20 marks) b) Six Sigma is useful for eliminating unnecessary or inefficient steps from a process through the application of techniques such as Pareto Charts, Cause and Effect Diagram and many more. Six Sigma's organizing concepts are DMAIC which translate to Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. Demonstrate how DMAIC concept can be applied to eliminate unnecessary steps from the above process. (10 marks) c) Identify TWO (2) waste from the above process. Describe how the waste occur. (6 marks) d) Recommend TWO (2) solutions that can be suggested to improve the above process. Justify your answers on how the proposed solutions have helped in removing the waste identified in answer (c). (8 marks)
