It has now been nearly 34 years since the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska. A massive, three-year cleanup effort was undertaken, yet extensive environmental damage occurred and lingering effects remain. The experience in Alaska has taken on new relevance as it may contain important clues to the future progress of the recovery of the Gulf of Mexico following the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill. Research the continuing effects that the Valdez oil spill has on the area over three decades after the spill and summarize what you have found.
