It is a cloudy, overcast chilly day at the law offices of Dewey, Cheatem, and Howe, LLP ("Dewey"), a preeminent intellectual property firm in New York City. You are sitting in your new office, as Dewey's most recent hire, figuring out how you want to decorate your new, well-appointed office with views of lower Manhattan. You look up from your beautiful mahogany desk and standing in your office doorway is world famous musician Bruce Springsteen ("The Boss"). After a brief moment of shock, you compose yourself and invite him to sit down. He plops himself into one of your leather chairs opposite your desk and starts to tell you he's got some new ideas for an album of new music but he is currently dissatisfied with his label. His proposal is that he wants to set up his own label and release his own music in a completely new format. The Boss pitches you an idea about a new audio format he's calling BruceTube which creates crystal clear recordings and rivals the sound quality of a live performance. He has been working for years on the technology and it is finally ready to go to market so that it can be used to create great records. Additionally, The Boss wants to release the aforementioned new album utilizing BruceTube but he wants to release under a newly created label, which he controls. The label's name is Born to Run Records. Finally, The Boss wants your input on his new music and the songs which should be placed on the new album, which he is naming after one of his most famous songs, "Thunder Road." Your job, as the newest member of Dewey is to advise The Boss on his ideas. As an intelligent, young Associate, you know that the ideas The Boss has presented you with give rise to copyright, trademark, and patent issues.

Advise The Boss on the following in a essay:

1. Which of his ideas is patentable? Let him know how long the patent is good for and when he first receives protection under Federal Patent Law.

2. Which of his ideas is subject to trademark protection? Let him know the duration of trademark protection and what he must do in order to preserve that protection.

3. Which of his ideas is subject to copyright protection? Let him know the duration of the copyright protection.
