• It is required to pump 20°C liquid water from a flooded basement to the atmosphere. For this, a centrifugal pump is used that operates with 70% efficiency. The section of the pipe that corresponds to the suction is made of 4" commercial steel, schedule 40, with a total length of 12m and in it are installed 3 standard 90° elbows and a 100% open globe valve (L/ D=340). On the other hand, the section of pipe that corresponds to the discharge is made of commercial steel 3", schedule 40, 1 meter long and a gate valve 50% open. If the average time that the system takes to empty the basement is 19 minutes. Take the height difference to be zero.
