It is somewhat terrifying to know just how many cyber attacks take place and even more so knowing there are many others of which the public has no knowledge. Each response to the threats was somewhat different, yet similar in its results. Once the attack was recognized actions were taken to eradicate the problem. Wiping the infected networks/computers and starting over, setting up a new security program, and going through with a countermeasure to kill the threat at the source within the system. Most of the responses are the same in that they almost have to start over and make sure there are no longer any traces of the offending virus/program. Tracing the source of the attack was also something I noticed as a common theme, but not every case study showed a promising trend of being able to identify the perpetrator of the cyber attack. This trend is worrisome. Not being able to identify the perpetrator means the same one might attack again in the future so the threat has not been eliminated. There is always the threat of booby traps left which are not found out until long after the incident is over and done. With all of the cyber attacks over the years, many procedures have been implemented to help in the recovery and elimination of the remaining cyber threats within the network and system (Ayala, 2016). Having a recovery plan in place is an essential to the cyber response because it would take longer to get things back on track and deemed safe again if there were no procedures in place to address the recovery after a cyber attack. HOW CAN YOU RESPOND TO THIS IN SUMMARY?
